ANDERSON TO PARTNER WRIGHT AT WORLD CUP

“I’m playing with no expectations and the darts are going well”

SCOTLAND pair Gary Anderson and Peter Wright will start as fourth seeds for the World Cup.

The duo will be going for a third title in six years when the tournament begins in Frankfurt in a week’s time.

Wright and Anderson will not begin their bid to regain the world crown until Saturday alongside top seeds England, defending champions Wales and Netherlands.

Anderson said: “I don't think there's anyone to take over from us yet.

“If we're still playing darts we'll be in it for the next ten years.

“Peter says he’ll retire but he won’t, it’s in his blood.

“We play well together. It’s a hard game the pairs. Wales have a cracking team and you’re going to have to look at England.

“Holland will be Michael van Gerwen and Danny Noppert. That’s another good team.”

Anderson has been in outstanding form this year and is determined to prove the doubters wrong.

He added: “The old boy can still play. When they all wind me up I'm going to do my damndest to prove them all wrong.

“It’s going alright. I'm enjoying it. I’m not putting myself under any pressure.

“I’m playing with no expectations and the darts are going well.”

Benjamin Drue Reus faces a tricky group stage with Denmark when they start on Thursday against France and Latvia.
